HS Youth Fellowship (HSYF)

    Sundays beginning September 12

HSYF is a time for our high schoolers to connect, grow in faith, serve others, and have fun. Throughout the year we also offer outings and service opportunities. We welcome friends to come too! Please see below for more information.

High School Youth Fellowship meets on Sunday nights at Yorkfield Presbyterian Church from 4:00-5:30pm.  We have moved it earlier in the day in an effort to stay outside, have sunlight, and more warmth as we move into the cooler months. Dress accordingly!

The purpose of High School Youth Fellowship is to grow in faith while in fellowship of one another.

The advisors in this program work collectively to plan games, discussions, and outings. They also serve alongside the youth on the summer mission trip.

The youth engage in a variety of games each week. Games range from movement activities to thinking activities. Youth are challenged to build teamwork skills and are bound to share in lots of laughs.

As our youth enjoy a snack, they also share their roses and thorns (highs and lows) from the week.

The discussion topics are chosen from a list generated by the youth each semester. Our discussions are rooted in faith and focus on applying biblical lessons and Christ-like love to our daily lives.

Lifting up our thorns that were spoken and those that are on our hearts, we end each week in prayer. Often this prayer is led by one of the youth. This time is spent holding hands in a circle. Be prepared for a unison clap at the end!

Each year we host a lock-in at the church, participate in 1-2 weekend retreats, go on a Hayride at Danada Farms, and more.

Looking to make a difference in the community, our youth engage in various “Service Sundays.” In the past we have served at the Elmhurst/Yorkfield food pantry, prepared desserts for PADS, volunteered at Facing Forward to End Homelessness, and led a game day at Lexington. Each Spring, our youth plan and lead a Youth Sunday as well. Each summer we also participate in a week long mission trip. See below for more information.

Each summer, our high school youth and advisors serve on a one-week mission trip within the United States. After loading up the vans, we embark on the drive. While on the trip, youth start each day with breakfast and a devotion before heading to service sites. Youth engage in various service projects ranging from painting and gardening, to working with children and building community relationships, to working in a food bank, etc. When the service day comes to an end, youth enjoy free time in which they often spend playing games with one another and youth from other churches. Evenings are filled with activities in the community, a worship service, and church group time. Some of our past locations include: New Orleans, LA (urban city), Warrensburg, NY (small town), Leech Lake, MN (reservation).
