Rev. Lauren G. Cochran

Rev. Lauren Cochran

Hello!  I began serving this amazing congregation in November of 2019, and I consider myself one lucky pastor to be part of such a loving church family.

A little bit about my background: I grew up Presbyterian in rural Ohio, went to Miami University (of Ohio) and majored in Art History and Comparative Religion, and then headed to Seminary at Harvard Divinity School.

While living in Boston, I met my husband, got married, and started our family.  We've been living in the Chicago 'burbs since 2013, but now live in Elmhurst with our 2 kids.  My husband is also a pastor (crazy right?!) and serves a different church in Naperville.

I love my job... I love preaching, dreaming about the direction of the church, visiting outstanding folks and witnessing how God is moving in all these places and people.

I *also* love coffee, and would jump at the chance to sit down with you and get to know you better! Find me after worship or send me an email and let's get together soon.

Rev. Matt Parker Wrzeszcz

MPW and a camel named Fred

Call it the boomerang effect: Having grown up at Yorkfield Presbyterian Church and sent into the world, I have returned to the friendly confines of my home church after a few years of wandering around. (YPC - Yeah you know me)!

I first started on the left coast, graduating from the University of Southern California (USC) with a degree in audio engineering. Returning to Illinois, I set to work.  During that time, I met my wife, Jennifer, and together we started a family (Jennifer is also a PC(USA) pastor – making our daughter a PK2). God called me to ministry (God’s timing is not always yours) and we travelled to the righthand coast this time, where I attended Princeton Seminary.  That is where I received a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry (unfortunately, it was not a BOGO offer). After seminary, I served at Grosse Pointe Memorial Church for four years and then returned “home.”  I have the amazing privilege to now serve as Associate Pastor for Mission and Outreach in the church where I grew up, danced with my wife during our wedding reception, celebrated our daughter's baptism, said a final goodbye to my grandmother and continue to plan for the future.

I get to do a lot of amazing things at YPC. My ministry with the Deacons offers compassion and care to the congregation. My ministry with the Mission Commission allows us to discover how God is calling us to use our hands and feet in the world. My ministry with the congregation gets me out into the neighborhood to talk with people (imagine that)! My ministry with the Trustees helps me understand how much work a building can be.  One of things I was asked to do when I first arrived back at YPC was to be a liaison to the Elmhurst-Yorkfield Food Pantry as they entered a building campaign.  The pantry now sits in the northeast corner of the parking lot serving hundreds upon hundreds of families each month.

This is an amazing time for the congregation of Yorkfield Presbyterian Church. As we move into the future together, it will be exciting to see what God has in store for us all!

I am the church office manager at YPC. I also serve as Clerk of Session.

YPC has been my church my whole life, I was baptised and married here and raised both of my children here also. I have seen Sunday school from both sides, sitting at small tables as a child and teaching preschool through eighth grade as an adult.

I live in Elmhurst with my husband, Paul. Our daughter, Danielle, lives in Tacoma, WA with her husband, Chris and sons, Cairo and Dakari. Our son, Max, is living in the St. Louis area with his wife, Hannah and son Logan. We all love watching ice hockey, especially the Chicago Blackhawks.

I am the Director of Childcare.  I provide and arrange care for the children ages birth to three during church services, Sunday School, and special events.  I also schedule activity time staff for ages 3 through kindergarten during church services.  I use my degree in Early Childhood Education and over 15 years of experience leading the childcare program at YPC.

I have been part of YPC since I was born... almost 35 years!

I am a graduate of York High School and Elmhurst College.  I teach preschool at Concordia University Chicago in River Forest.  I have been the first babysitter for most of the children at YPC including several who are now college graduates!  Teaching and caring for children have been my life work.  I come from a family of teachers.  Both my parents are retired teachers and my brother is a college professor.

I am the director of the chancel choir and handbell choir for the 9 am service.

I was referred the job by a friend and have spent many wonderful years directing the choir.

I am a full time professional musician, with 40 students as well as a member of one of the top wedding bands in Chicago called Indigo, part of Arlen Music. I am currently engaged to Fiancee Kim and am looking forward to getting married this fall. I also enjoy Boston sports teams and golf.

I am the Church organist/choir accompanist.

After graduating from Elmhurst College, I received a call from the college that a church member, Warner Brown, was looking for a piano accompanist for his choir. I accepted the position which also turned into playing organ for one of the church services in the fall of 1974. In the fall of 2012, I will begin my 39th year.
My husband, Gary, and I live in Naperville. We have 3 grown children: Megan, Krissy and Michael and 3 grandchildren: Alex, Jenna and Abigail. Besides working at YPC, I will be starting my 20th year teaching at a Christian Preschool in Naperville and also teach piano lessons in my home. In my free time I enjoy scrapbooking.
